The film is said to take place 15-years after the events of Rise with most of the human-race dead, and a small group of scientists leading a resistance in San Francisco. Deadline reports that Oldman will play, “Dreyfus, leader of the human resistance after the apes have taken power.” Jason Clarke and Kodi-Smit McPhee are set for roles in the film and Andy Serkis will be reprising his role as the leader of the Apes, Caesar. We know that James Franco, the star of the first film, had talked to Wyatt about reprising his role (possibly in a flash-back) when he was attached to direct but has not been approached since Reeves took over.

Casting news has slowly been trickling out since then.

Seasoned veteran and all around incredible actor Gary Oldman has been cast as the leader of the human resistance in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Coming Soon reports.
